Your rights

All individuals have a right to access or challenge the processing of their personal data being held and managed by an organisation.

We support your ability to exercise rights regarding your personal data held by us, including:

Right to access
The right to access your personal data held by us
Right to correct
The right to seek correction of your personal data where you consider it is incorrect, incomplete, misleading or out-of-date
Right of erasure
The right to require Askable to delete all personal data held about you
Right to object
The right to object at any time to certain types of processing of your personal data
Right to data portability
The right to receive the personal data Askable holds about you in an accessible format.

In certain circumstances, you have the right to obtain a restriction on the processing of your personal data

Your data is important to us, so we want to make it straightforward for you to access it.

Can I update my personal information online?

You can change and update your personal data in your Askable Account such as, your name, date of birth or email address, by logging on to your account with your username and password. You will then be able to update your details and personal data.

How do I make a request?

Please contact us to make a rights request – that is, to request access to your personal data held by us, request a correction of your personal data or to ask us to act in relation to your other rights set out above. 

You can make a written or verbal request to Askable using our contact details below. We may ask you to follow up in writing after making a verbal requests.

You will be asked to provide a copy of your photo ID to verify your identity (such as your passport photo page, driving license, or identity card). This is to ensure we are sharing personal data with the right person.

What do I need to include in my request?

State clearly what you want - you might not need all of the personal data that we hold about you. Helping us identify what you need will enable us to provide this quickly.

Include the following information:

  • Your name and contact details
  • Any details or relevant dates that will help us identify the data you wish to access 
  • Personal data to be updated with new details, or
  • Details of the data that you are requesting to object or restrict processing of.

Do I need to pay for my request?

All individual rights requests are processed free of charge unless they are clearly baseless or excessive.

How long does Askable have to respond?

We will confirm we have received your request within 24 hours.

Askable will generally respond to basic requests with 28 days, from the date we receive the request or (if later) 28 days of receiving additional information requested by you (e.g., confirmation of your identity).

If a request for information is more complex, we may extend the processing time up to two months from the date of receipt. We will let you know within the first 28 days and explain the extension of the processing time.

How do I make a complaint?

If you have a concern or complaint about our personal data handling practices, please get in touch with us!  You can contact us using our contact information set out below.

We will confirm receipt of your questions or complaint within 24 hours. 

In most cases, we will be able to assist you within 30 days of receiving your complaint. There are some circumstances where we may need additional time to respond to you (such as where additional details are needed to understand your concern or investigate the matter).
